A recent a16z analysis highlights how AI-generated content is flooding the publishing industry. Since 2023, self-published books with detectable AI text have proliferated, now capturing around 40% of observed sales. Although non-AI books still earn more per title, AI-generated books are dominating top-selling charts in genres like sci-fi and mystery through sheer volume and low barriers to entry.

The report also notes that Moonshot’s Kimi K3 model experienced a massive spike in global downloads and daily active users post-launch, primarily driven by markets outside the US. Concurrently, Moonshot has shifted its advertising strategy, moving over 60% of its budget from YouTube to LinkedIn.
