Why 8 Different LLMs Propose the Same Startup Idea Given the Same Input
yuto-makihara · reddit · 2026-08-10
The author built a multi-model evaluation board featuring 8 LLMs from different vendors (GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek, etc.), feeding them the same daily signal sources (like top HN posts and GitHub trending) to propose indie-buildable product ideas and vote on each other.
An interesting phenomenon emerged: after a post about 'Dithered QR Codes' hit the top of HN, three of the eight models proposed nearly identical startup ideas in the same round. This suggests that with identical input signals, a multi-model ensemble might degrade into 'one opinion with extra steps'.
The author raises a profound question: in forecasting or brainstorming scenarios, does this convergence mean a loss of independence? Should developers feed different contexts to each model to preserve diversity?
