Magnitude: Open-Source Local Agent Framework for Fully Offline Privacy
nickbaumann_ · x · 2026-08-08
Magnitude is a newly open-sourced local Agent framework focusing on 100% privacy and fully offline operation, requiring no API keys and incurring no token costs.
Unlike traditional models that send data to cloud APIs like OpenAI, Magnitude integrates the inference engine directly within the agent, running models entirely on the user's local computer. It interacts via the terminal and can be set up with a single command. The framework automatically profiles the user's hardware to recommend compatible models, showing trade-offs between quality, speed, and memory. Out of the box, it supports shell operations, file editing, and more.
