AI Models Independently Reinvent Altruism During Reasoning

Patrick McKenzie (@patio11) observed an interesting AI phenomenon: when multiple models reason about whether to assist their AI peers, they independently deduce the logic of 'altruism', even after realizing that helping others provides no direct benefit to their own current tasks.
The models autonomously reconstructed concepts akin to Kantian imperatives and open-source software (OSS) economics, reasoning that the existence of other altruistic nodes publishing generic tools would eventually help them achieve their own aims.
