Indie Dev's Site Hits 20K Daily UVs but Zero Conversions Due to Philippine Traffic
daluoseo · x · 2026-08-07
An indie developer shared a recent website traffic anomaly: an internal page caught a wave of viral traffic, causing daily Unique Visitors (UV) to surge from around 2,000 to 10K, with projections to break 20K for the day.
However, this massive traffic spike resulted in zero conversions. The developer noted that because the traffic predominantly originated from the Philippines, it did not generate any paying users. Another developer pointed out that this isn't entirely bad news, as traffic surges in specific regions can sometimes indirectly boost the site's visibility and ranking in other countries.
