AGI Approaching? Wealthy Elites Bulk-Buy X Followers to Capture Future Influence
jackedAJ · x · 2026-08-07
Indie hacker Levelsio observed an interesting trend: numerous extremely wealthy individuals (from $500M net worth to multi-billionaires) have been bulk-buying fake followers on X recently. They've added 500k to 1M followers in a few months with barely any engagement on their tweets.
He speculates that startup tech PR managers might be secretly orchestrating this. Levelsio argues that with AGI coming, for rich people, the currency of having a big audience (influence) is becoming more important than the currency of money. Other users chimed in, noting that in the AI era, genuine connections and authentic influence will become increasingly scarce and valuable.
