Countering the trendy extreme claim that "with AI, I don't read code anymore," the author argues that such statements are either sales pitches or pure clickbait.
He points out that much like using frameworks and libraries in the past, most code didn't need to be read closely anyway, but critical parts must be reviewed, understood, and tweaked. Deciding what needs review is the core of "engineering." AI tools let you focus on what matters; if your job requires zero code review, it's time to reflect on whether you or your company are actually adding value.
