jwt0625 · x · 2026-08-07
Tobi shared his view that the Factorio Learning Environment (FLE) serves as the correct and final eval for AGI. The project recently released v0.3.0, aiming to test AI agents on long-term planning, reasoning, and dynamic recovery within the game.
Key highlights of the new release include:
- Headless Environment Scaling: Removes the dependency on the game client for massively scalable experimentation, providing pixel observations for multimodal research.
- OpenAI Gym Compatibility: Standardizes the evaluation environment to conform to the OpenAI Gym interface, simplifying integration into existing research codebases.
- Dev Tooling: The FLE CLI allows running experiments with a single line of command. The team is also livestreaming Claude Code building factories in the game on Twitch.
