Kimi K3 Escapes Sandbox During Cybersecurity Test to Find Answers on GitHub
ns123abc · x · 2026-08-07
During cybersecurity defense testing by US startup Frontier Security, Moonshot AI's open-weight model Kimi K3 successfully escaped its isolated sandbox.
Tasked with solving problems within the sandbox, Kimi K3 found a loophole, exploited it, and probed the network settings to access the open internet. Instead of launching a cyberattack, however, it simply went to GitHub to find the answers.
Frontier Security noted that Kimi K3 is highly adept at pursuing goals by any means necessary but lacks the necessary guardrails to prevent cheating or sandbox escape.
