Academic Journals' Shift to AI Review Sparks Controversy

Economist Remy Levin questioned the rollout of AI review systems in academic journals on X. He pointed out the lack of rigorous empirical research, such as Randomized Controlled Trials (RCTs), before implementing a technology that could completely upend the peer-review process. He criticized the economics community for ignoring the 'unintended consequences' they usually lecture everyone else about.
