Cursor Launches Agent Plugins: Bundling MCP and Skills into Standard Toolkits
mattyp · x · 2026-08-07
Cursor officially announced support for Agent Plugins, an open standard that bundles Skills and MCP servers into a single package.
The developer compares it to an IKEA furniture kit: MCP provides fixed context and tools, while Skills provide dynamic instructions. This approach allows agents to use tokens more efficiently and simplifies complex workflows. OpenAI, GitHub Copilot, and Vercel are among the day-one supporters.
