The Model Context Protocol (MCP) has released its 2026-07-28 specification (dubbed MCP 2.0), marking the most significant upgrade since its inception.
- Core Shift: Stateless Architecture: The new spec decouples MCP from stateful transport constraints, moving to a stateless protocol. This greatly reduces the implementation complexity for both clients and servers.
