SpaceX announced the construction of Terafab, an advanced semiconductor manufacturing facility in Grimes County, Texas, designed to bridge the gap between global chip supply and future compute demands.
The combined compute demand for chips from SpaceX and Tesla is projected to exceed 1 terawatt (TW), significantly surpassing current global supply. While appreciating existing suppliers, SpaceX emphasized that building Terafab is essential to address this looming supply-demand disparity.
