Breaking the AI Memory Wall: CXL Moves Toward Commercial Deployment

As AI workloads like context and KV cache grow rapidly, memory capacity is becoming a system bottleneck. CXL (Compute Express Link), a standard interface allowing memory to be attached and shared over a PCIe-based link, is seen as the key to breaking the memory wall.
Industry analysis indicates that the CXL ecosystem is maturing, with deployments expected to begin next year and scale into 2028. Hyperscalers will be the first logical customers, enabling them to put memory and inference workloads into custom compute clusters to expand the available memory pool while keeping latency low enough.
