Daphne Koller, Founder and CEO of insitro, argues that while the tech world widely believes superintelligence will directly cure diseases like cancer, this "magic wand" expectation ignores the fundamental bottlenecks of current biological research.
She points out that our understanding of biology remains highly limited. Relying on AI to reason purely from existing knowledge will likely only result in generating failures faster. To truly transform healthcare with AI, the key lies in going back to the roots: measuring biology in the right way and using AI to derive novel insights from these new measurements.
