Amid ongoing debates about peer review at top AI conferences, David Forsyth, a senior PAMI-TC ombud, proposed a radical streamlining: rebuttals exist largely because authors demand them, not because they are effective.

If left to him, CVPR would completely eliminate the rebuttal phase and assign only 2 reviewers per paper, creating a much more scalable process. The poster agreed, noting that no AI venue has perfectly nailed peer review at scale, making diverse approaches to reviewing essential.
