Mouse Died? AI Coding Assistant Takes Over PC Controls to Save the Day

emollick · x · 2026-08-06

Professor Ethan Mollick shared a practical everyday use case for AI coding assistants (Codex). After accidentally turning off Bluetooth on his Windows machine and losing mouse access, he instructed the AI to re-enable it. The agent took over the computer controls, navigated to system settings, and successfully toggled Bluetooth back on with a single click. He joked that while AI can solve complex math problems and escape sandboxes, fixing these mundane annoyances is equally appreciated.
