Hank Green Exposes Loopholes in YouTube's AI Content Disclosure Policy

Creator Hank Green has highlighted loopholes in YouTube's current AI content disclosure policy. While YouTube requires creators to disclose when they use AI to meaningfully alter or generate photorealistic content, the boundaries remain ambiguous.
For instance, the policy mandates disclosure for "AI-generated music" but exempts "riding a unicorn through a fantastical world," even if the latter looks photorealistic. Furthermore, numerous AI-assisted workflows—such as idea generation, script and thumbnail improvement, and cloning one's own voice for voiceovers—require no disclosure. This creates a blind spot where many AI manipulations slip through the platform's labeling net.
