Ninth Circuit Rules: Using AI Agents to Scrape Websites Doesn't Violate CFAA

The US Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals recently made a significant ruling in favor of Perplexity, stating that it is reasonable to treat AI agents as extensions of the users.

The court noted that using agents to scrape websites without authorization does not automatically constitute a violation of the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (CFAA). This is a major legal win for the AI search and data aggregation industry.
