Developer Hand-Codes Core Algorithm Offline, Exposing LLM Coding Limits

The author recounts building the core of a new framework while vacationing in Okinawa. Initially attempting to leverage LLMs, they found that the models simply couldn't get many of the core algorithms right and often generated non-functional code.
Ultimately, during a five-hour evening flight without internet or AI assistance, the author spent two hours wired-in and hand-coded the initial version of the framework end-to-end. The experience highlights the current limitations of AI in handling complex algorithmic logic and the enduring value of traditional deep work.
