Jeff Dean and Scientists Left Google Citing TPU Infrastructure Limits on Research

According to the Wall Street Journal, top scientists like Jeff Dean decided to leave Google because its existing infrastructure, while excellent for consumer apps and search, failed to meet the requirements of new AI research.
The scientists explained that Google's system requirements were fundamentally different from the research infrastructure they needed to build. The author jokingly noted their reluctance to work with TPUs and imagined Jensen Huang calling Jeff Dean immediately.
