Opinion: Major AI Labs Will Always Catch Up to Startups via Engineering

Tech commentator @teortaxesTex argues that major AI labs, despite their sluggish corporate nature, will inevitably catch up to startups founded by brilliant exiles.
He points out that while a startup might commercialize a brilliant research result and outpace giants by about 6 months, major labs have the resources to continuously "derisk" and solve the remaining engineering challenges at scale, eventually overtaking the competition.
