Scholar Argues Users Must Actively Prompt LLMs for Literature Credit

Countering the claim that LLMs inherently fail to trace ideas and give credit, researcher Alex Kontorovich argues that leaving unverified text as-is is purely user sloppiness.

He points out that LLMs are highly capable of literature search; users simply need to explicitly ask the model to list relevant papers. The responsibility then lies with the user to actually review the found papers and verify their accuracy.
