Elicit has officially launched the Elicit Research Agent, an AI environment built for high-stakes decisions, available via web and API.
Process Verifier
The team argues that for the most critical decisions, you can't verify outcomes directly, so you must verify the process. They invested heavily in creating an internal benchmark for decision quality, supported by hundreds of expert hours.
Impact & Mechanism
They found that the process verifier successfully identifies confounders, brittleness, and unaddressed biases, ultimately improving final decisions. At high effort settings, the Research Agent now runs this verifier as an explicit step to ensure reliable reasoning in complex scenarios where answers cannot be easily checked.
