Elicit Launches Pharma Research Agent with Custom Benchmark Outperforming Claude

AI research platform Elicit has launched the Research Agent, designed specifically for high-stakes pharmaceutical decisions. The agent is built around five core capabilities: a reasoning-focused harness, diverse data synthesis, decision-ready outputs with citations, transparent methods by default, and compounding project knowledge bases.
To evaluate reasoning quality in high-stakes scenarios, the team also introduced BioDecisionBench, focusing on areas like preclinical study design. In this benchmark, Elicit's Smartest mode covered 76.7% of key decision considerations, outperforming Claude 3.5 Sonnet at 68.8%.
