Bipartisan Senate Bill Mandates OS-Level Age Verification for All Devices

Four US senators have introduced bill S. 5090, requiring every general-purpose computer and phone sold in the US to verify the user's date of birth during OS setup.
The mandate forces devices to share the user's age bracket with all apps, app stores, and browsers as a primary identity indicator. In response, a Linux developer has already published a script to strip out the restriction under their real name, inviting a lawsuit.
