Google Cloud API Gateway Enables Cross-Provider Model Routing
rseroter · x · 2026-08-05
Google Cloud's updated API Gateway now offers Model Routing in Public Preview. This feature allows developers to dynamically route traffic to Gemini, Claude, or OpenAI OSS-GPT models via OpenAI-compatible requests.
Providing a lightweight, serverless ingress layer, it enables model switching without hardcoding endpoints or managing open-source proxies. It can be used standalone for simple rate limiting and token tracking, or paired seamlessly with the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform to combine strict security governance with dynamic routing.
