Researcher Calls for a Refutations & Critiques Track at NeurIPS
RylanSchaeffer · x · 2026-08-05
In response to the declining quality of papers at machine learning academic conferences, a researcher has called for the community to establish incentive mechanisms to police and correct substandard research.
They propose creating a dedicated 'Refutations & Critiques' track at top venues like NeurIPS, arguing that until such a peer-review accountability mechanism is in place, ML conferences remain largely worthless.
