Researcher Warns: The Most Exciting AI Conference Papers Are Often Overclaims

AI researcher Keller Jordan clarified his views on the quality of top-tier AI conference papers. He noted that while it wouldn't be fair to claim the numerical majority of papers are fraudulent or overclaiming, if a reader specifically selects the papers that seem the most exciting, the majority of those will indeed be overclaims.
He pointed out that this reality is obvious to those with strong industry connections, but not necessarily to the majority of students who lack such networks. Therefore, it is a point worth repeating occasionally to warn newcomers.
