Normal Computing Unveils CN101: A Digital Thermodynamic Computer for GenAI

Normal Computing has published a paper on arXiv for CN101, a digital thermodynamic computer designed specifically for generative AI. While conventional chips expend energy to suppress noise for deterministic computation, CN101 leverages stochastic physical dynamics as a direct computational primitive.
Implemented in standard digital CMOS, the architecture was evaluated on GenAI workloads ranging from image generation across six chips to molecular free-energy estimation. This emerging hardware paradigm aims to address the growing compute and energy bottlenecks of AI inference at the physical level.
