Countering the notion that AI will leave poor countries further behind, the author suggests a different perspective based on historical tech adoption. 20th-century technology was driven mostly by large firms, benefiting richer nations.
However, the logic for AI adoption is reversed: AI sees its highest adoption rates in 1-2 person firms, a sector where Africans specialize. Thus, AI could potentially make today's poor countries unimaginably wealthy.
