Sarvam AI Founder: Democratize Intelligence to Avoid K-Shaped AI Future

In a conversation with Lightspeed, Pratyush Kumar, co-founder of Sarvam AI, pointed out that AI development could lead to a K-shaped societal setup where a few have much while many have nothing. He advocates for moving towards "universal basic intelligence" rather than just universal basic income.
He argues that the model layer, as the most critical component of a post-AI world, shouldn't be monopolized by two or three companies and needs more builders. He emphasized that while India has successfully built services and apps, it has lacked platforms that accrue major value, which is why Sarvam AI is betting on the model layer.
