YC Open-Sources QM, a Multiplayer Agent Harness with Model Agnosticism
alex_verem · x · 2026-08-05
Y Combinator has open-sourced QM, a multiplayer agent harness designed for enterprise team collaboration. Unlike traditional single-user AI assistants, QM provides scoped contexts for each employee and Slack channel—complete with isolated memory, file permissions, crons, and sandboxes—enabling team collaboration on shared projects without losing individual context.
The framework is model-agnostic, allowing seamless swapping between underlying models like Claude Code and Codex. YC has deployed QM internally across its accounting, legal, and engineering workflows, emphasizing that avoiding vendor lock-in is a critical engineering practice today.
