tinygrad Founder: GPUs Need a New Operating System
pranjalssh · x · 2026-08-05
The tinygrad team argues that the current paradigm of GPU computation—stuck in launching kernels—is outdated.
They point out that modern GPUs essentially house hundreds of independent processors equipped with various synchronization and communication primitives. Consequently, they require a completely new operating system to manage these hardware resources efficiently and break through current performance bottlenecks.
