Proposing 'Latent Reading': Using AI Models to Deconstruct Joyce

Researchers have proposed a brand new object and method of literary study called "latent reading."
Unlike traditional textual analysis since Aristotle, this approach shifts the focus to the latent spaces of an AI model. As a first case study, the team trained a language model named FinneganLM specifically on James Joyce's complex masterpiece Finnegans Wake, aiming to explore the deep structures and reception aesthetics of literary texts through the model's internal representations.
