6 Common AI Video Generation Failures and Prompt Fixes
Beautiful_calico · reddit · 2026-08-04
After reviewing over 100 failed generations across Seedance 2.0, Wan 2.7, and Kling v3, the author identified six recurring failure modes and created a triage checklist:
- Subject Drift: Characters change mid-video. Fix by using a cleaner reference, shorter duration, and fewer simultaneous actions.
- Action Missing: Subject bobs instead of walking. Reduce to one clear action verb and remove camera instructions.
- Camera Went Rogue: Random zooms or pans. Use only one camera instruction and remove vague terms like 'dynamic'.
- Reference Ignored: Output barely resembles the input. Check generation mode and prompt contradictions.
- Anatomy Collapse: Broken limbs or melting hands. Reduce motion, avoid heavy occlusion, or shorten the clip.
- Semantic Misread: Asked for rain, got a desert. Prioritize subject, action, and environment at the beginning of the prompt.
Before rerolling, creators should diagnose whether the issue is the prompt, the reference, or a model limitation.
