Radical Co-founder on Training the Largest Genome Model to Write DNA
exnx · x · 2026-08-04
Eric Nguyen, co-founder of Radical Numerics, discussed treating DNA as a language on a podcast. They have trained the largest genome language model and generated the first bacteriophage genome entirely created by AI that never existed in nature.
He pointed out that there is more DNA data in public databases than text on the entire internet, yet models built to process it remain less sophisticated than linear regression, indicating massive untapped potential in the field.
