Ai2 Launches OLMoEarth: Open-Source Planetary-Scale Geospatial Inference Platform
anselm · x · 2026-08-04
Ai2 has launched the OLMoEarth platform, designed to lower the barrier for large-scale geospatial model fine-tuning and inference.
- Open-Source Foundation Models: Provides Earth observation foundation models pretrained on roughly 10TB of multimodal satellite data, with fully open weights, data, and code.
- Full Lifecycle Platform: Addressing the lack of engineering teams in environmental organizations, the platform offers infrastructure spanning data labeling, fine-tuning, and large-scale inference.
- Inference Optimization: Solves multi-source satellite imagery alignment and processing challenges, currently capable of processing tens of TBs of imagery across continent-scale areas in about a day at a very low cost.
