OpenAI Fires Back at Apple's Trade Secret Lawsuit with Staff Chat Logs
The Decoder · rss · 2026-08-04
OpenAI is pushing back against Apple's trade secret lawsuit by releasing iMessage threads from former Apple engineer Chang Liu.
The messages appear to show that Apple employees themselves reached out to Liu for technical help and internal files after he left the company. OpenAI uses this evidence to counter Apple's claims of misappropriated trade secrets, suggesting Apple's own staff initiated the sensitive communications.
