Sovereign AI critics are really just competing against frontier models

The author argues that Microsoft, Mistral, Deloitte and other “sovereign AI” advocates are attacking high-cost frontier AI for the same reason competitors always do: they do not control it.
The point is that many organizations may claim they do not need frontier models, but the market graphs suggest otherwise — and that skepticism is really about competitive positioning rather than pure product judgment.
