SK hynix and SanDisk unveil the first HBF standard for AI memory
- The two companies said they released the first open High Bandwidth Flash (HBF) standard through OCP.
- The goal is to ease AI memory bottlenecks with a tiered-memory approach for next-generation infrastructure.
- The announcement also highlighted a 512GB capacity target, 3TB/s bandwidth, UCIe support, and a new 375-layer 4D NAND claimed to be 2.5× more power efficient.
- Google and Tenstorrent are already participating in the ecosystem, and SK hynix is presenting the technology at FMS 2026.
