US ban on Chinese optical transceivers could ironically boost domestic AI hardware, says analyst

In response to rumors of a US import ban on Chinese optical transceivers, this post analyzes the potential unintended consequences of such restrictions.
The author suggests that while beneficial for Western supply chain independence in the long run, the ban will act as a shot in the arm for Chinese AI SuperPoD makers in the short term. It will accelerate the transition to all-optical networks and next-generation NPO architectures. Furthermore, if memory chips are also banned, Chinese SuperPoD manufacturers will no longer have to compete with international buyers for domestic supplies from CXMT, comprehensively boosting the Chinese AI hardware industry.
