Interpol: AI is the Core Driver in 55% of Cybercrimes Across Africa

A new Interpol report reveals that artificial intelligence has become the "core operational driver of cybercrime" across Africa. Statistics show that AI is involved in 55 percent of reported cybercrimes on the continent.

The report also highlights the severe economic and security impacts of AI abuse: financial losses more than doubled from $192 million to $484 million, and approximately 600,000 cases of digital extortion involving deepfakes were recorded.
