A researcher shared their frustrating NeurIPS reviewing experience on Reddit, highlighting systemic flaws in the current academic conference peer-review process.
The author noted that while they responsibly completed their assigned reviews, their own paper faced unusually adversarial reviews. To make matters worse, the Area Chair (AC) was almost entirely unresponsive until the final day, and other reviewers refused to engage during the rebuttal phase or update their scores.
