DeepMind Exec: AI Is Civilization's Biggest Scientific Bet, Revenues Don't Justify Capex Yet

A Google DeepMind executive defined AI as the biggest scientific bet in the history of human civilization. He pointed out that current capital expenditure in AI has already surpassed the Apollo mission, the Manhattan Project, and the construction of the internet. Although current revenues do not yet justify such massive capital expenditure, this is exactly what defines a 'scientific bet'.
