ELLIS Institute Launches Physical AI Lab Focused on Robot Learning

The ELLIS Institute Tübingen announced the addition of Dr. Kashyap Chitta as a Principal Investigator and Hector-Endowed Fellow.
He will launch the new Physical AI Lab, dedicated to robot learning in both simulation and the real world. This approach aims to reduce the cost of physical interaction, enabling the deployment of physical intelligence across a wide range of robotic systems.
Alongside this role, he will continue his work with kesa.ai, a non-profit open-science AI lab he co-founded in May 2026.
