Solving AI Hallucinations in Science: Inside Google's Science One Framework
maier_ak · x · 2026-08-03
Google Research recently introduced the Science One Framework to tackle the biggest bottleneck in autonomous AI research: fabricated citations and hallucinations.
Current AI agents capable of simulating the entire scientific workflow—from literature review to paper writing—often invent references or misattribute data, creating a fundamental crisis of trust. The core philosophy of the Science One Framework is to demand a verifiable chain of evidence. Instead of simply generating answers, the framework requires that every single sentence produced by the AI be backed by traceable, verifiable proof, shifting the paradigm from whether AI can do science to whether we can trust it.
