Foundation Robot Catches Baseballs with Open-Loop Control and Low-Friction Tendons

CyberRobooo · x · 2026-08-03

Foundation's robotic hand is now capable of catching baseballs. Its open-loop control is working better than expected, as low friction in the tendon path allows motors to get a clean sense of fingertip forces. This level of fast response and proprioception is reminiscent of Tesla Optimus catching a tennis ball with its 22-DoF Gen3 hand in late 2024.
