OpenAI Hardware Roadmap Leaks: $200 Screenless Speaker and AI Phone Target 2027
创业邦 · wechat · 2026-08-03
Based on supply chain insights, OpenAI's first hardware products are taking shape: a $200-$300 screenless smart speaker with a camera and mechanical parts, alongside an "AI Agent phone" powered by a custom MediaTek Dimensity 9600 chip. Both are slated for a 2027 launch.
The core focus of these devices is visual perception. Whether it's the speaker or the phone, the hardware specs heavily emphasize cameras and ISPs (Image Signal Processors). This aims to let AI models better "see" the user's environment to provide proactive agent services, moving away from traditional app-based interactions. Currently, Apple is actively countering OpenAI's hardware push through lawsuits and employee retention bonuses.
