AX and UAX: How AI Agents Are Redefining Product Experience
EdenEmarco177 · x · 2026-08-02
As AI agents increasingly interact with products on behalf of humans, developers will no longer have direct control over the end-user experience. Future product design must pivot to focus on two emerging paradigms:
- AX (Agent Experience): How an agent experiences and navigates your product. This will gradually become the primary usage path.
- UAX (User-Agent Experience): How humans experience an agent using a product on their behalf, which is where Agentic UI comes into play.
Paul Graham endorsed this view, betting that eventually all services will be used by agents, and those that fail to adapt will go out of business.
